Please enjoy the photos and videos as all of these cats are rescued!! We have been able to re-home many animals over the years but for some reason no one wanted to adopt these ones. While it's a struggle, we continue to enjoy the company of the cats knowing that they would have been euthanized if we didn't rescue them!!! Each one has a blog telling how they were rescued so read the older posts to find out more about the felines who live at the real "cat house".

The Menagerie..

Early in the Spring of '09, I was on my way to work and when I stepped out of the house, I noticed a pet carrier on the front porch. I didn't think much of it until I was part of the way to work and then realized it was not our pet carrier. I immediately called my daughter and wanted to know what was in the carrier. She seemed sincere in her answer when she said she had no idea. She opened the carrier up and much to her surprise, she found 2 mom cats and 8 newborn kittens!!!!

Of course being the animal loving family we are, we took them inside and decided to foster them until we could find them all homes. The kittens were about a week old and the mom cats were very young. We fostered the animals and with some assistance of a local cat rescue, we were able to find homes for the moms and most of the kittens.

While foster the group, another kitten "appeared" in the litter. She was just going to stay the weekend while the foster family was away since she needed to be bottle fed. So now we were at 9 kittens, 2 mom cats and our 5 cats. 16 cats!!! It really was a menagerie.

We were successful for the most part at adopting out the kittens. Most went to friends and one unfortunately was sick and didn't survive. 4 kittens remained and never got adopted out as they became older and no one ever wants a small cat ... they only want kittens.

So in addition to our 5 cats, we added 4 more- Lemon, Muffin, Bubba and that "weekend foster" who never left- Donut.
